Job Description:
Biomedical
Equipment Technicians are responsible for the repair,
calibration, and maintenance of complex medical equipment in
many settings:

Hospitals have a
multitude of critical diagnostic and treatment equipment that
requires routine upkeep and documented maintenance, such as
x-ray machines, incubators, electronic thermometers,
ventilators, cardiac pressure monitors, and sterilizers.

Clinics and
outpatient centers require maintenance and repair of apparatus
used in patient care, such as EKG machines, x-ray machines, and
small diagnostic equipment.

Nursing homes and
home-care agencies have equipment used in long-term patient
care.

Medical
laboratories need technicians to maintain equipment used for
large-scale diagnostic use.

Equipment
manufacturers design, update, and provide maintenance for their
products.
